    file naming weirdness

I'm still on Quark 7, reformatting a new edition of a textbook. In renaming the files, I have my new name, and then, followed by a colon, automatically appears the name of the older file (two editions back) upon which is was based. I don't want to see that. How can I get rid of it so that I don't have to delete it every time I create a PDF?

What you are seeing is the Project Name/Layout Name concept that Quark introduced with version 6.x As of version 7.x because of the general whining by the Quark user base (of which I contributed to under my breath) over this irritaton, Quark made it so you could turn this off. Go in to Preferences. Scroll down until you find Project: General. Check the Single Project Layout checkbox. Save. Your problems with this will now go away.

Thanks very much, Erik. I was always a fine whiner. Guess it pays off!
