Can you paste a copied logo in at X.0 and Y.0 ?

As above, is there a keyboard short cut that will let paste 0, 0 (x/y) , rather than having to key in '0, 0' each time ?

    Thanks.

    Hi Stuart,

not directly, no. In 8 there is a shortcut key to paste in the middle of the visual screen (Command+V) and one to paste at the same position it was cut/copied (Command+Shift+Option+V).

However, if you need a quick way of positioning an object at 0/0 (or any other position), why don't you create an Item Style that contains only x/y coordinates? You can even assign a shortcut key, so Command+V plus that shortcut key combination afterwards will achieve what you need.

    Does that solve it?

    Best regards

     Hi Matthias,

This is interesting - But Could you please explain about the item style and how to do it?

    Best regards

    Hi Hallgeir,

just create an Item Style that ONLY contains coordinates (0/0). Then assign a keyboard shortcut to it and hit the key combination after you pasted.

    Thanks

See here or there. And of course in the documents that shipped with the software.

To put it simply, Item Styles are "boxes style sheets". So you can create one with 0,0 as origins, name it as you like, assign it a shortcut and run!

Oops! Sorry to have answered a question that was NOT addressed to me.

     Hi again,

My purpose with this is to copy several items (A finished ad (conteing both several text- and image-boxes)) together from, lets say, a A4-document and paste the ad into a new document (with the ads exact size, for example 80 x 107 mm). That´s where I need this function since I (and several others) do this many times a day.

I would rather go another route: like an AppleScript PDFing the ad and importing it in place in the new doc. But well. As a group (of boxes) I don't think what you target is doable through Item Styles. This said, with the Item Tool, since the whole group is selected as such, copied and pasted, you just need to drag it to 0,0, so if you drag rules (vertical at 0 and horizontal at 0 too), the group shall snap to the guides. And if the job (or part of) is "only" to copy and paste such items (groups) in the same doc, at the same place, but every time on another page, you can even change the preferences about snapping to guides and increase the distance so it's automatically sticking to the upper left corner. Are you with me? Is this clear enough?

     Hope I get this right:

I use a free tool called "Spark" that lets you do chains of keypresses. I created a script/keychain, that does press  OPT+APPLE+R, 1, <TAB>, 0, <TAB>, 0, <ENTER>. Bound it on Alt+Apple+D, lets me dup without altering the shourtcut too much.

This works for a lot of things, if you find avaible keyboardshortcuts left.
