    Q7 so slow on non Intels???

    Is it just me or are others finding Quark 7.3 incredibly slow on non Intels (OS 10.4.11)? I have not upgraded yet to Quark 7.31, since play around. Have those been resolved?

    I can build a document in Quark 6 so much faster using all the same xtensions and yests I do have Q7 upgrades of them all. I don't even have the images in the document yet. It just seems to hesitate when doing anything, selecting anything, moving anything, all basic construction...

    Are you opening a V6 doc in V7 ?

    If so try a thumbnail drag or an append layout in a fresh V7 doc.

    V7 seems to crawl on legacy documents...

    Q7 so slow on non Intels???

    I have built this document from scratch in Q7.

    It will be a large annual report so have several master pages but at this point it is mostly a shell. I am in the initial stages of constructing elements, style sheets, graphic elements. I have hardly got any content in it so it makes me leery of constructing the whole thing in Q7.

    I have had magazine issues I have ended up taking back into Q6 since it was too slow. Now some of those may have been legacy documents, but this one is not.

    i might sing along. having to create 100+-pages magazines. yes, 7.31 is very slow on G5-MPs. the fastest ever G5 (2*2,7) is blowing like a boeing or an airbus on take-off. i have to admit that a G5DC (last series ever) with 2,3 dual core is faster - and was much more cheaper :-( than the first one mentioned. both running with 8GB RAM. whereas an intel macbookpro is quite fast (but to date not really as 6.52 used to be).
    things which did speed up a bit (but do not transform a G5 to a MacPro):
    * cleaning font cache daily
    * not too often run apple-f (search and find) this always brings up display problems after some time.
    * move dejavu XT from xtensions to xtensions disabled (this speeds up the save process)
    * from time to time create new preferce file (yes, this will force one to create all settings and S&B (in german) again) and never share the preference file between a G5MP, G5DC or intel mac (might be an easy way to get settings from one to another).
    * plsu all other standard things as checked fonts, pictures and full res preview only when needed, correctly upgraded older files to 7 etc etc.
