Quark 7 overwriting files with no warning

Maybe I've been staring at the screen for too long, but I can't figure this out.
5 new workstations, configured identically with Leopard (10.5.2) and Quark 7.31. When anyone does a "Save As", Quark will overwrite a file of the same name without any warning.
Is this behavior by design, or accident?

I cant replicate this behavior here on Tiger so 7.31 is not design to operate like this. Sounds like another issue of Leopard.

It's not a Leopard issue, because no other application does this under Leopard. It's a Quark-Leopard issue, much like the problems with Quark's graphical interface for opening/saving/importing files.

Quark 7 overwriting files with no warning

I've noticed this too and strangely enough, I quite like it. It's another time saver. However I am aware of the dangers, so I keep my Time Machine backup checked regularly.

But yes, it looks like it's a Quark/Leopard glitch.

On the other hand doing a «save as» command in the same location and with the same name...

    I wonder...

this is just a post to keep it current. This behavior is corrected in 8, should there a be maintenace release for 7 IT NEEDS to be there...

I have contacted quark and they said they are aware of this issue and are working on it.

They did not give me a time frame for a resolution.

I know they know. It was overlooked on the 7.5. release. I want to keep the post current so it doesn't get overlooked again. Thanks for the update though. They won't give dates on any releases, maintenance or otherwise.

This behaviour isn't limited to the "save as" command. It also affects any kind of output from QXP7.x (exporting pdf, eps, printing on file etc.)

Re: Quark 7 overwriting files with no warning

I realize this is an old thread - but it's the closest thing to my same problem - maybe I'll get a reply?  I have been functioning fine in Quark 7.5 working on OS 10.6. (That's Snow Leopard, for those of you who are cat callers). About three days ago I stopped getting the warnings when I "save as" to update a file in a new location.  I agree with the previous poster that it's a slight time savings...assuming you know what you're doing, but I do miss the confirmation before a possible boo-boo.

With no new updates or software changes, why would this stop working randomly after functioning accurately forever?
