&lt;p&gt;Hi Preeti,&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Went to Control Panels - Internet Options - Programs Tab, and made Internet Explorer the default browser then restarted the PC as requested. Quark now launches thankyou !&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As I am currently with BT Yahoo Broadband, they provide their own browser and BT Yahoo Mail service at &lt;a href="http://home.bt.yahoo.com/"&gt;http://home.bt.yahoo.com&lt;/a&gt;. &amp;nbsp;I open this software, but when asked if this needs to be the default browser, I decline and it launches ok.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Please perform the below mentioned steps in order to resolve the issue:-&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;1) Navigate to &lt;font size="2"&gt;C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Application Data\&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-weight:bold;"&gt;Quark and delete the QuarkXPress 8.0 folder. Now see the results.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-weight:bold;"&gt;2) Please go to Control Panel &amp;gt; Add/Remove Programs. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;font size="2"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-weight:bold;"&gt;
&lt;li class="kadov-p"&gt;Under the &lt;b&gt;Add/Remove Programs&lt;/b&gt; search for application like &lt;b&gt;Ybrowser, Yahoo Toolbars, Yahoo, etc&lt;/b&gt; are installed. 
&lt;li class="kadov-p"&gt;&lt;b style="FONT-WEIGHT:bold;"&gt;Uninstall all Yahoo applications&lt;/b&gt;. 
&lt;li class="kadov-p"&gt;Now try launching QuarkXPress. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;p class="kadov-p"&gt;3) You can also try the following steps:-&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul class="whs1"&gt;
&lt;li class="kadov-p"&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Right click on Internet Explorer, select Properties.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;li class="kadov-p"&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Go to Programs tab.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Put a check on &lt;span style="FONT-WEIGHT:bold;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&amp;quot;Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser&amp;quot;.&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Click on &lt;span style="FONT-WEIGHT:bold;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Reset Web Setting...&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt; button.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Restart the machine &amp;amp; now launch QuarkXPress.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p class="kadov-p"&gt;&amp;nbsp;You can also try to login as a new admin user on the machine and then see the results.&lt;/p&gt;

The only way to close the program was by using Windows Task Manager (Quark never appears in the Applications tab&amp;nbsp;I have to end task using Processes tab).&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;COLOR:black;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;COLOR:black;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;Tech Desk suggested trying a preferences work-round, which did not work. As the security tab is not normally present on my system, this was the solution given: &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;em&gt;&amp;#39;&amp;#39;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;mso-ansi-language:EN-US;"&gt;The simplest solution to get the Security tab in the properties to show is to restart the computer in safe boot. You can do so by pressing and holding the F8 key upon startup of your machine. &lt;/span&gt;Be aware though that the launch issue is not necessarily related to permissions on this folder.&amp;#39;&amp;#39;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;COLOR:black;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;Technical asked me to verify that the folder on &lt;i&gt;C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Application Data\&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-weight:bold;"&gt;Quark&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;&lt;span style="mso-bidi-font-weight:bold;"&gt; &lt;/span&gt;had read-write permissions (&amp;quot;full access&amp;quot;). Full access was already granted to this folder, so unfortunately this also was of no help either.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;COLOR:black;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;Another Representative requested me to download the next updater version 8.02 and install this version, after removing the&amp;nbsp;old 8.01 version first. This has been carried out to the letter, but it will still not load correctly not even in safe mode.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;COLOR:black;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="FONT-SIZE:10pt;COLOR:black;FONT-FAMILY:Arial;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;Come on Quark there must be a solution to this, another user has posted the exact problem and there may be other users in the same position.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
