  • Re: AutoCorrectXT 3.0 Update Kills my QuarkXPress 8

thanks for your hint. I checked the languages as well and have now installed the 3.1 version. AHHHH: just tested "german" and not the "german (reformierte neue rechtschreibung)". it works, but unfortunately the XT might be useless for almonst the whole german speaking countries if it only works with "german". We had ...

  • Re: AutoCorrectXT 3.0 Update Kills my QuarkXPress 8

Do you run more than one user on your mac? if not just go into the library folder of the only one user you are running on that mac. If not, you have to do it for every user. search there in libraries for preferences folder, quark, quarkxpress 8.0. Don't delete the QuarkXpressPref as mentioned (this would delete all your programm settings and ...

  • Re: Free Image Export XT Now Available for QuarkXPress 8.1!

On Mac 10.5.8 MacPro I have a problem as well. Installed the mac-xt as well as the lib-file. Runs as admin, does not run as user. Oh, we had this before in "good old" xpress 6.x days. alsways set the rights right :-). tried to set the rights but saw only two rights, not the usual three. for both the xt and the lib. mistake in the mac xt ...

  • New Update for XPress 8.02?

Since the 8.02 (Mac) update was released in early february, I am wondering if there will ever be another as some time has gone by again. Or will it be called XPress 9.0 - and be an upgrade and no update? I am longing for certain fixes (OpenType-problems (in german version called "OpenType Unterschneidung verwenden" does not work ...
  • Re: Quark 8 slowness

And: are you talking of an old file or a completely new Xpress 8 file? If you are opening old files (which even includes up to veiison 7), are doing same changes in 8 and then simply saving, I would say, you are lucky enough when the file will open again :-) old files are to be handled very carefully, whereas new ones seem to be really fast for ...

  • Re: Speed of Quark on a G5 v newer Mac Pro

I have not seen a benchmark test yet, but I am running it (8.02) on a 10.5.6 macpro 2,8 QC (2008 series) and a G5 2,3DC (last G5 series ever). To be honest: the G5 is so slow running XPress 8.02 when you have been before at the macpro, it just tells me that three years is obviously the max to run these machines. Doing magazines with 100 pages is ...

  • Re: Textreflows each time file is opened (8.02, Mac 10.5.6 and 10.4.11, Intel and PowerPC)

:-) yeah, after some hours of sleep I came up with the same idea. yes, and it did work. nevertheless I got into contact with the german quark tech support and send them a project file of the issue as this, at least for me, is not a feature but a bug. thnx PS: is the box resize handle, as you call it, the text update "starter"? after ...

  • Textreflows each time file is opened (8.02, Mac 10.5.6 and 10.4.11, Intel and PowerPC)

Hi all, I do encounter strage things with a 100 pages magazine-file mostly based on the textfont "GaramondPremierPro (OpenType)". Each time I open the file, some textboxes reflow differently, but only those with that font; whereas those with e.g. "MyriadPro" do stay as intended. All text is in German ("Deutsch Neue ...

  • Q7 so slow on non Intels???

i might sing along. having to create 100+-pages magazines. yes, 7.31 is very slow on G5-MPs. the fastest ever G5 (2*2,7) is blowing like a boeing or an airbus on take-off. i have to admit that a G5DC (last series ever) with 2,3 dual core is faster - and was much more cheaper :-( than the first one mentioned. both running with 8GB RAM. whereas an ...
