  • Re: Irish spelling and hyphenation

Thank you for your suggestion. We will consider this along with other requests, however, (to date) we have not received many requests for Irish. Scott Wieseler QuarkXPress Technical Product Management

  • Re: Spelling Omission?

Hi all, This appears to be a problem in the resources of our spellchecking dictionary vendor. We have identified a few problematic words that are not flagged as spelling errors (ommission, transportaion, and equiped). I have notified the vendor and we will be looking for the fix from them. • Re: Find/Replace warning

Hi Geo, This was indeed an old bug in the software that was fixed. You have pointed out one side of this issue, but there are probably just as many out there that have clicked the Replace All button expecting all instances to be changed (just as the User Interfaced suggests) only to find that not all instances were in fact changed. I ...
  • Re: Doc causes Crash

I found a similar crash logged in our system. It appears that some of the boxes in the project are corrupt. I am not sure what caused this to happen, however, our engineers did some work to repair this state in QuarkXPress 7. Where I could not open the document I found in 6.x directly without crashing, I could open the document in 7.x. Once ...
  • Oxford spelling dictionary

Currently, no. QuarkXPress uses an American English dictionary when text is set to US English and a British English dictionary when text is set to the International English option (available in Passport, International English, or Canadian Edition versions of the software). You bring up a good point. We will need to consider how to better represent ...

  • font flow

''Why not just check your character setting in both docs. More often than not, that is usually your culprit.''Not a bad idea to try. But, if you don't see a difference there, try the flow test. As an example, we read font metrics differently in legacy flow code than in 7x flow code. This kind of change is not represented in a visible element in ...
  • font flow

It might make a difference what you are copying the content from. If you have opened a document that was created in a version prior to QuarkXPress 7, the document ''flow'' could be different than in a new 7.x document. We do this so that we can make updates to features that affect text flow for new documents, but still allow older documents to be ...
  • Quark hidden font??

Hi all,I'm not sure what is going on here, but we sure are having difficulty reproducing the issue in house. As stated earlier, we are under the impression that it has something to do with font cache, but cleaning the font cache does not seem to help some of you. So, what happens when you try loading the font from a system location? Some steps are ...
  • Previous feature in spellcheck

Yes, this is known to us and is on my list of requests that I continue to push for. Thanks,Scott WieselerQuarkXPress Product Management
  • Fit box to text (and even automatically)

Hi,Let me see if I can help. Since you are using QuarkXPress 6.5, you must be using the Tables Technology Preview XTension (Required Component) downloaded from our website. In this XTension, I believe the Column Width maximum is set to 3 times the column width at the time the table is created. If you happen to resize the table so that the column ...
