Hi Steve, In case you have installed any custom fonts (i.e. apart from the default system fonts), kindly disable them or remove them temprorialy. Delete the fonts cache and then restart system, delet teh preferences and relaunch the QuarkXPress 8 application. Are you using any font management tools on your system?

Hey, you could disable the 'unwanted' fonts thru any font utility or the Font Book.

 Hey, coul you verify by moving the text box a bit. It might help.. It could be kind of refreshing/ text calcing issue.

Hi. In case you do not wish the text to hypehnate for a particualr paragraph, just turn off the Auto Hyphenation settings and set the Hyphens in a Row value to '0' in the applied H&J set. Text won't hypehnate. Hey, I didn't understand what you meant by 'no hyphenation does not stick'?  

Hi. Try unistalling and reinstalling the XPress 8 application again. Some dll seems to have got corrupted.

Hi Ben. Is it some kind of text calcing issue? Does it work fine on moving the text box (in which the Drop Cap character is not displaying properly)

If you still face the crash/ freeze issue, even after turning of the applied Open Type features, try with disabling Auto Hyphentaion settings in H&J. You could save the activity log (using Activity Monitor) when the freeze happens and post the same on the forum.

Hi Bill. To which version are you trying to update to? Probably the updater application which you copied might have got corrupted or might be having problem in unarchving? Try copying the updater application again and then try updating. Also on which Mac classic version are you working on?
