  • Re: text box won't stay behind in Quark 8

Emma -- thanks, I'll try 0 all around (the box I'm pasting actually has top and bottom of 5, left and right of 0) and then plain pasting at the insertion point. mac-nick -- after the first time this happened, I had the same thought as you, so I did bring the box to the front before putting it in the library, but the same thing ...

  • Re: need script to create inline boxes (Quark 8/Mac OS 10.5.4)

Hi Emma, I posted here in the hope that I could go any easier route for now -- just some Applescript code to place boxes where the labels SB and LB are, but no luck so far. I've spent some time trying to understand the XData manual, but it is truly over my head. Greg was checking to see if he had any similar XData projects that could ...

  • need script to create inline boxes (Quark 8/Mac OS 10.5.4)

I'm in need of a script to create 2 sizes of inline (anchored) boxes in a Quark 8 document. BTW, I'm using OSX 10.5.4. The Quark document is several pages of a business directory that is formatted as 4 columns per page. The listings that would need an inline box are preceeded by "SB" or "LB". Here's an example of ...

  • Re: text box won't stay behind in Quark 8

To be honest, I don't have time to try to learn layers for this project. Also I've heard some printers have a problem with files with layers -- don't know the details, just what I read online somewhere. As for inline boxes -- I tried placing the box then Cmd-Xing it, then Cmd-Shft-Opt Ving it. It worked for the first one, but not for ...

  • text box won't stay behind in Quark 8

I have a 30 page "yellow pages"-type document. It has a main text box with a lot of 2- and 3-line listings.  However, about 25 of the listings per page get a small boxed ad. I drag that box from a library and place it in the right place on top of the text box to later import an image or create the ad. (I haven't been making them ...

  • Re: Input from numbers key pad not accepted

I've never had a client do that before, and I've never used those keys for shortcuts, so I didn't even know it would screw up the keyboard :-) Thanks, again!

Unbelieveable! It is the shortcut thing -- thanks so much for the help. It's a new client and it just didn't occur to me to check their styles -- sure enough that was the problem.

  • Input from numbers key pad not accepted

When I try to use the numbers pad on my keyboard (Mac), Quark doesn't accept the input in text boxes or in fileds, like the view percentage at the bottom left of a page window. Sometimes one or two of the numbers will show up. For example, I prefer to use the numbers pad to enter phone numbers, but of the 7 numbers, only a couple of them ...

  • can't find link tool in Quark 8 demo

I'm using the Quark 8 demo while waiting for my boxed version to arrive. It doesn't seem to have any linking capability -- no  tool palette icon for it, and the demo didn't install any XPert tools. I'm working on a large project and was going to use InDesign, but when I found out 8 would support full drag and drop, I decided ...
