  • Re: A solution to importing Word documents with footnotes

Unfortunately, I have no experience with Word for Mac. Here are some suggestions: - make sure that the cursor is in the 'normal' text window, i.e. not in a footnote or in the notes window - make sure that there is at least one footnote (not endnote) in the document. If the script still does not work, could you help me by making sure ...

I'm sorry for the late reply. It seems that in your version of Word, the PasteAndFormat method is missing from the Selection object. The line containing PasteAndFormat could be changed to Selection.Paste It worked for me all right; let me know if this solves the problem.

  • Re: Project crashes only on close (7)

In case anyone encounters the same problem, here's what seemed to help: I guessed from the log entry that the problem was caused by shared elements, so I deleted all shared content from the project, and the problem appears to be gone.

  • Project crashes only on close (7)

I have started a multi-chapter book in QXP 7.2. One of the chapters, containing many images, started to crash QXP when I try to close it. It appears to be saved and opened without any problems. I tried to upgrade to 7.5, and I exported the only layout in the project to a new project, but the problem persisted. QXP crashes no matter whether the ...

  • How to export monotint (grayscale) PDFs?

Hi all, My latest project is a black-and-white book, and I thought the safest thing to give the press is a grayscale PDF. I'm using QXP 7.2. However, I'm dumbfounded by the fact that Quark's default black, as is a custom-defined CMYK 0-0-0-100% color, is not exported as a full black in the grayscale color space. The Registration ...

  • Re: Grayscale PDF output and black

Many thanks for your help! I thought I've found a solution, and that was when I started to jot down all my observations. I was wrong, but I didn't check how an rgb jpeg filled with black gets exported. It seems to result in a 100% black (as is a black defined in the rgb colorspace in Quark), so I think what I'll do is to define an ...

  • Re: How to get chapters to start on the verso side?

Thanks for the reply! My problem with sections is that if possible, I wouldn't want to disrupt automatic page numbering across chapters. Is that possible to do? Also, a somewhat related question (if I may): is it possible to export multiple chapters into a single PDF file? Many thanks for your help!

  • Re: A solution to importing Word documents with footnotes

Here is an improvement over the above script. It actually converts footnote references (numbers) in the body text to plain numbers in superscript, and copy-pastes the footnotes to the end of the document with their number appended in front of them, with a '##' as a separator. Then, it asks the user whether to delete all footnotes. ...

  • A solution to importing Word documents with footnotes

I've seen a couple of threads about missing or truncated footnote numbers when importing Word documents into Quark. I've experienced the same problem, and wrote a short macro for Word in Microsoft Visual Basic that helps the situation. It does two things: (see the next post for an improved version) - before each footnote reference in the ...

  • How to get chapters to start on the verso side?

This might be something obvious, but I've found no solution to this problem either in the documentation or on the Internet. Basically, I have a book consisting of a couple of chapters, all with a facing-page layout. If, say, the first chapter consists of an odd number of pages, I would like the second one to start on the verso side, with an ...
