  • Re: white box on psd, only when printing

I probably explained this all wrong. Basically, I'm describing psd files that have an alpha channel. The alpha channel doesn't seem to be working when printing to postscript. I get the image, but it sets within an opaque white box that blocks out the items behind it. The problem occurs somewhere during the print to postscript process, but ...

  • white box on psd, only when printing

I can't figure this out. I moved to a newer computer, using Leopard instead of Tiger. Re-installed Quark, Acrobat, printer profiles, etc. Everything seems to work fine. But I can't get a pdf file from Quark any more that maintains the transparency of my imported psd images. They appear fine in Quark, but when I print to pdf I always get an ...

  • Re: psd import suddenly stopped working

That seems to have fixed it. Problem solved.

  • Re: psd import suddenly stopped working

I should have mentioned I'm on Quark 7.5. Yes, they import, but without a preview. So they don't do me much good. I notice now that psd files are being saved without icons or previews (even though I'm telling it to) so I can't see the images from the finder, either. I suspect it's time for a Photoshop re-install. I'll try ...

  • Re: HUH?

I've been told that Quark 7.5 has issues running with Tiger on some machines, but that an upgrade to Leopard would fix it. I have occasional agonizing slowdowns on my old G4, but restarting Quark usually fixes it. I've never noticed any problem on the Intel at work (also using Tiger) but someone I spoke with about our set-up said they were ...

  • psd import suddenly stopped working

All of a sudden Quark (7) has stopped accepting psd imports, when it had been working fine for well over a year. I haven't intentionally changed any workflow either in Quark or in Photoshop. Photoshop files are being saved with previews, but for some reason now almost every time I import a psd with even the simplest layers -- no layer effects, ...

  • Re: importing pdfs

I preflight with Acrobat Professional. Works great, but unless I know what's causing the problem I can't check for it and fix it. I have no idea what causes so many pdfs to crash Quark. Since most pdfs won't import without saving down to 5.0, (and most clients' ads contain mulititudes of other things that need to be fixed) most of ...

  • importing pdfs

So people keep saying that eps is a "dead" format and we should only be using pdf files now. I keep trying to comply with this new wisdom, but I keep finding again and again that eps is just faster and creates far fewer problems for my workflow. We receive most of our ads from clients as pdfs. But I have a number of problems with ...

  • Re: Export to PDf causes Quark to Crash!

Do you mean to just turn them off via the Xtensions manager, or physically delete them from the Xtensions folder?  Also, I don't have anything called CMS... could that be called something else?
