Hi all,

Quark 6.5 prints to my Konica 3102 printer. So does InDesign. SO does Safari. So does Illustrator. So does Photoshop.

But Quark 7 doesn't.

Sigh.

Any thoughts? Every so often I have to use 7 (since I installed 7, 6.5 crashes all the time - lucky me).

We are having problems with a Konica printer as well with Quark 7, its the Bizhub C451.

It does print but we can't select a different paper tray or the bypass tray, and it was a nightmare getting decent colour.

We've had several Konica engineers visit and they have told us they are aware of problems with Konica and Quark and their Japanese HQ are working on new drivers.

We have the BizHub C350 and whilst we can print from the OS 10.4 machines and any software, including Quark 6.52 (which we have, though we no longer use) we can't print to it from anything under OS 10.5.

That's one of the reason's we've downgraded the new 10.5 machines to 10.4.

What OS are you using? Have you got the latest PPD? Minolta, for us, have been incredibly unhelpful.

Yeah they have been rubbish for us too, they send engineers out but they don't do anything! I think your right about Leopard being at least part of the problem, but the paper tray selection doesn't work on the Tiger Macs either. Though you can choose the paper tray from Acrobat, but PDF's are printing out slightly darker than from Quark.

Konica have recently posted a Leopard Driver on their site, but it hasn't fixed anything!

Well, that's a relief - I thought I was the only one. On the downside, it looks like there's no relief.

No big, I guess. I prefer 6.5, anyway. :^) But it'd be cool to use some of Q7's new features. I can use it for things that go on the press, I guess, although a lot of my publications now just go on the copier/printer/whatever.

I'm having the same problem with our C451. The options worked on our C450. I have contacted both KM and Quark. It sounds like KM doesn't have a solution and blames it on Quark's way of filtering the postscript data. Quark is working on a driver, I have tested 3 versions so far and nothing has worked yet. Quark Tech support has been great, I got a senior tech in the US and she has been working hard on solution.

I have tried both 10.4.11 and 10.5.x and with the same outcome, so I don't think it's the OS.

Quark and Konica-Minolta created a patch that is available in the public KMBS USA site as well as the Quark site. The patch refers to QuarkXPress 7 printing issues and the CUPs filter problem. You may download the patch here: http://www.quark.com/service/desktop/downloads/details.jsp?idx=714

I uninstalled the CUPS filter that tech support emailed me, rebooted my MacBook, and installed the one on the link you posted. When I print to the KM C451 it still will only pull paper from the default paper which is tray 3 even though I specified Tray 1 in the print dialog screen. Thus this filter still does not work.

It really sucks to have to convert everything to a PDF and print through Acrobat to access the options on the printer.
