    Missing Font

I have seen this question or similiar questions to this on this forum but havent found a real answer (or Im not looking in the right place, if so I apologize) I am using Qaurk 7.2 on Mac OS 10.4.9 using Suitcase 11.0.2. I load font into Suitcase, go into Quark and its not there, I then restart Quark, restart Computer, remove font and then reinstall font using Suitcase, I type the name of the font in Measurements pallette and still the font does not appear. (Its happened with 1 out of 5 fonts I load. I then go into Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop and guess what, they are there. Ive used Quark for over 8 years, I love using Quark and Im not Quark Bashing but this stinks. There have been problem after problem since I installed Quark 7 (from printer problems to font problems) So back to my problem, does any know what is happening with my font, if anyone has any comments, questions, suggestions please help me. Thanks everyone.

    Missing Font

The one problem that is really bothering me is Im working on a Quark file with Zapf Dingbat I have the font loading into suitcase and its not showing up in Quark (But in every other program its there) so I went to myfonts.com and bought it, thinking that maybe there was a problem with that font but still no resolution.

Just a thought: Have you looked for ITC ZapfDingbats in your font list? I thought ZapfDingbats hadn't loaded on my system too until I found it listed under ITC, rather than under Z.

I did look under ITC in the menu (I have a few other font listed as ITC) but no Zaph Dingbats. There are a few other fonts that I try to install that are giving me the same problem. I have a lot of files with the Dingbat font in it (Use it for checkbox, bullets, etc...) The only other solution I have is to convert these files over to InDesign and work for there. (The font issue doesnt come up in any Adobe products I have used)

    Missing Font

Have you done the housekeeping that Extensis suggest in their good font management pdf (removing non-essential fonts, creating a user font folder, etc etc) ?

Also, try cleaning the font cache using Font Finagler or Font Nuke (I think it's called)
    Xpress 9.1
Macbook Pro, 4gb RAM, 23" Apple Cinema HD
    OSX 10.6.8, Linotype FontExplorer X

I use Font Doctor to examine my fonts before I load them into Extensis Suitcase and organize them in folders (A-Z Fonts) I will look for that Extensis PDF to see if theres anything Im missing and will look into those program to clean my FOnt Cache to see if that helps. I still dont understand why certain font work in Adobe and dont in Quark. Thanks to everyone who has added to this discussion, I appreciate everyone's input.

    Re: Missing Font

I'd go ahead and upgrade to 7.31 first.  Quark has it's own font cache (independent of the system caches). The curent version of Font Nuke will take care of that cache as well. Previous versions did not.
