    Converting Indesign Files

Just a suggestion from a person who is a loyal Quark user, how about building a function to import/convert Indesign into Quark, like Adobe build into Indesign to import Quark files?

I don't like having to spend an extra $199 to import Indesign into Quark.

I am sure I am not the only person suggesting this.

Hey, I agree. That would be great.

Don't think it would ever be possible as the way InDesign handles many things like text composition and transparency is not compatible. A better bet is to export to write a postscript file from InDesign (PDFv1.3) place in Quark and then edit the PDF in Acrobat if small edits are needed. I do the opposite with Quark files because I hate what Quark has become.

There is an obvious commercial interest reason why this will probably never come to pass (on both the part of Adobe and Quark).

Besides, the conversion for Quark to ID covers older versions. And the Markzware utilities are far from perfect, as well...

Alma is quite correct--placing PostScript art is generally the best solution. I use both apps--and have had to do it both ways...
