Hi, all,
Quark Quality Assurance found a serious issue when authoring with Quark Interactive Designer, which leads to a crash of QuarkXPress.
This happens
- only under Windows and
- only with Flash Player version 9.0.28 installed and
- only if you reference (load) a SWF in a SWF object.
So please do not update your Flash player to the latest version if you are using SWF object in your projects and author on Windows. You can find the version number of your Flash Player by right clicking on any SWF playing in your browser and choosing "About Adobe Flash Player 9".
If you are already experiencing this problem, the only workaround is to downgrade your Flash Player to 9.0.16, which can be done like this:
1. Use the search feature of Windows to look for files named npswf32.dll.
2. Delete all instances found.
3. Install the Adobe Flash Player (plug-in) again from the Quark Interactive Designer CD.
Let me apologize for any inconvenience caused.
This issue will be fixed with Quark Interactive Designer 1.01.
Also, Quark Interactive Designer will work just fine in 7.02, 7.1 and 7.2, both on Mac OS X and Windows XP. Of course it is recommended to work with the latest version of QuarkXPress, which is currently 7.2.
