Hi, all,
as this seems to be a reoccuring topic:
Mac: The first version that supports Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) is QuarkXPress 7.31.
Mac: The first version that supports Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) is QuarkXPress 8.1.
Win: The first version that supports Windows Vista is QuarkXPress 7.3.
QuarkXPress 7.31 (and higher) is even certified on Windows Vista.
Win: The first version that supports Windows 7 is QuarkXPress 8.12.
All lower versions of QuarkXPress (e.g. 7.2, 7.01, 6.52, 5.01 etc.) are not supported on Leopard or Vista.
Additionally QuarkXPress 7 is not supported on Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) or Windows 7.
To summarize, QuarkXPress 7 and QuarkXPress 8 are both supported on all typical combinations:
- Mac OS X 10.4 (G4-, G5- and Intel-based machines)
- Mac OS X 10.5 (G4-, G5- and Intel-based machines)
- Windows XP
- Windows Vista (32-Bit and 64-Bit OS)
- QuarkXPress 8 adds Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) support
- QuarkXPress 8 adds Windows 7 support
As updates (staying within the same major version like 7.01 -> 7.5) are free of charge, please check here
whether you can update to the most current version. For upgrades (e.g.
6.52 -> 7.31) please contact your local dealer or our customer
service.
You can read here about other users installing QuarkXPress 3, 4, 5 and 6 on these operating systems. For some it works, for others it doesn't, depending on environment and workflow.
Feel free to post your tips here, just a friendly reminder that these combinations are not supported by Quark.
Thanks
Matthias
