    Quark hangs at startup

    We are trying to use and run Quark Xpress version 7.5, but it hangs just after it says the Quark Licens Admin is found.

    Quark Copy Desk 7 hangs in the same way, but Quark Xpress 8 works just fine. We are forced to use QXP 7 for a while so I really need to get this to work.

    We are running Windows Vista SP1. Is there any clues or help for this issue?

     Right now our production enivronment is on Windows XP SP2 with QXP 6.5 and its stable in this sense (of course quark isnt as stable as one wish it would be), but I would be happy to at least start the program.....

    Re: Quark hangs at startup

    Seems like no one reads these forums so I answer it myself...........

    I have found that the problem seems to evolve around the QLA-server. After I tried "everything" (reinstalling quark, quark on another machine, resetting qla-server and so on) I tried to check out a "offline license", via the QLA Client.

     Then finally it worked, so the problem is something with checking out the license.

    Im in contact with Quark support in sweden, and the suggested me to use Process Monitor; and one of the hundered of thousands of row there seems interesting;

     CreateFile C:\Users\Public\Documents\Quark\QuarkXPress 7.0\XPress7.5.dat Desired Access: Generic Read, Disposition: Open, Options: Synchronous IO Non-Alert, Non-Directory File, Attributes: N, ShareMode: Read, Write, AllocationSize: n/a NAME NOT FOUND

    If this is an error i dont know, but probably.

    Anyhow,.... Now we can start testing Quark 7.5. It doesnt solve my problem fully, if anybody has a solution to why the machine cant check out the license please tell me, otherwise i perhaps answer myself again when we have found the solution ;-) ;-)
