What is best way to put portofolio with samples of print designs on a web site?

What is best method to put up a portfolio with samples of my print designs on a website?  I have only worked in print up to now, but I am making a website to show a portfolio of my print work.  Should I saved the Quark print layouts as pdfs (and if so, what options); should I resave as web layouts (never done it); save as eps and then resave as jpgs (if so what resolution).???

Other online portfolios sometimes have a smaller image, which you click on to get an larger image of a design.  I would like viewers to be able to see a decent size example of my work.

I have been googling around, but  have not seen any good advice on this issue.

Any advice would really be appraciated!   Thanks in advance!

Hi, I usually export as a PDF and then open the image up in photoshop, for your images to be the best quality you need to make your pictues the exact size you need them, make sure they are 72dpi and rgb. Once it's as you need it 'save for web' and save it in any file extension but png8 is the smallest file size and you need small file sizes if you want your pages to load quickly (no good for cut outs with drop shadows though)

In Quark you can make a rollover so when the person rolls over the small image it brings up the larger image across the page, theres good instructions for this in the help menu. The other thing you can do is have a small picture on the page and hyperlink it to the large image. Insert the small picture into the box, right click, hyperlink, add new. Enter a name (if required) choose url and in the box under neath enter the exact picture name such as 'bigpicture.png' then set the target to blank. When someone clicks the small picture the big picture will open up in is own tab. Dont forget to make the larger picture and put it in the image folder. Or you can hyperlink it to another page and just have one picture per page. Hope this helps. Georgina

    Georgina,

Thanks very much for your reply.  That is kinda what I thought I had to do.  I was hoping there was a quicker way.  But it seems to work OK.  I am putting up a quick and dirty site in Wordpress. Maybe someday I will find the time to learn how to use Quark to do a web page in Quark or maybe learn Flash or something.  You have inspired me as see you can use Quark to design for web and it turns out!  I apologize for the late ackrowledgement for your help, but I freelance and got bogged down with the holidays.  Seems like we always put off doing our own promotion.  Kim, creativezazz.com

    Hi, Kim,

convert your Print layout to an Interactive layout and export: You will have a page that looks exactly like your Print media, but is scalable, zoomable (except for raster pictures), will retain the layout 100% and is pretty light weight. The advantage over PDF is that it fits more seamless into webpages, it doesn't show the navigational element of the PDF plugin.

If you want to add navigation you can do that too in the Interactive layout before you export it as Flash. Or add a table of content, sound, hyperlinks, videos, animation, automatic advancing pages etc.

    Best
