Drop shadow leaves cast on screen

I'm using QuarkXPress 7.5 on a Mac Pro with Mac OSX 10.5.7. I've encountered a very strange problem with drop shadows. I've added a drop shadow to a portion of text which sits on top of an image. When I nudge the text box up it leaves a copy of the drop shadow behind even when I remove the text box from the image. It appears at though dirt has been smudged onto the screen. I've tried shutting down the machine and restarting but this has no effect at getting rid of this problem. Other than creating a new Quark document and transferring all the items over I don't really know how to solve this problem. Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

What happens if you move or delete the image box that this formerly drop shadowed text was in front of?

Re: Drop shadow leaves cast on screen

I;m using QXP 7.5 on MacOS 10.5.8 and I have similar problem. I apply a drop shadow on a box containing picture, and when i delete this box dropped shadow persist. I cant do anything with it. The only solution was to move everything to created new document and create shadows in photoshop. Anyone has an idea what's happening?
