A Complaint about Quark's annoying Activation system

For various reasons I have had to re-install Quark on my 2 Macs over time. Now with a recently repaired new MacPro when I install and try to Activate it tells me I have exceeded my Activation quota. I try the telephone helpline and they want to CHARGE me for that, so I try their online system which tells me that the Installation code (a required field) generated by Quark, is invalid. I mean what's the point?

So I'm sitting here with urgent work to do caused by a failed new MacPro that took 10 days to repair. When will Quark realise that if people are going to steal their products, they will do it anyway. Forcing licenced customers to jump though all their annoying hoops to get their software to work, does not do their cause any good at all.

I am steaming Quark, Activate my software please - TODAY

If you want their attention, you need to talk to them, not us (we the users on this user-to-user forum). Don't get me wrong, I'm with you on this one, but it is what it is, and not calling them is only hurting you. Call the number, explain the situation, get your Quark running so you can work, and at the end of the call, explain that this isn't the type of call you should have to pay for and ask them to rescind the charges. Maybe they will, and maybe they won't, but you won't know until you try.

Yep - fair point Migman. I managed to get a new Activation code by Live Chat. Very helpful guy. It's just something you can do without when every single piece of software you use has to be re-installed on a clean machine and you get this obstructive nonsense from Quark. But I must say I don't see why I should have to pay more just to get a code. I paid more than usual already living here in the UK anyway.
