Vertically Center Text with Image in 6.1

I am trying to vertical align some text in Quark 6.1. When I set vertical align type = centered, the text in the box displays vertically centered as expected. However, if I add an image on top of the text and set the runaround for the image to my embedded path, the vertical align on the text is no longer centered. The image causes the text to align at the top. When I pull the text box away from the image, the text goes back to vertically centered, but as son as I put it back near the image, the text jumps up to top aligned again.

Is there a way that I can vertically center the text in the text box even while the photo with runaround is on top of the text box? I also tried turning off runaround on the image and creating a custom shape with runaround on it but the same thing happened.

Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Wil

Wil, vertical alignment of text is ignored when runaround is applied. It's not a bug, it's just the way XPress works. Other than manually forcing things it is not going to work. I suppose you could try anchoring the image in the text box (if the image is smaller in size than the text box) and then adjusting the leading and baseline shift, but no guarantees.

Re: Vertically Center Text with Image in 6.1

Oh ok. My plan was to have a text box with frame and background colors applied to it and then drop my product image over the framed text box so that the text would wrap neatly around it. Since that doesn't seem like it will work, I guess I will have to make the frame a separate piece and then just adjust the height of the text box accordingly over my static frame so that it appears vertically centered. I've done it that way in the past but figured I would try and be slick and do it all in one step rather than two. I have 10-12 products per page and 48 pages so that would have helped reduce some time but it's not a huge deal.

    Thanks for the quick response!

Sure. You're correct in doing it this way though. You have to break up this way (background box, image box, text box) in order to overcome this behavior.
