    Couldn't install Quark Xpress 8 on Mac 10.5

    Hello,

    we have bought a Quark Xpress 8 license for 3 seats. The first one is working including a license server on a Mac OS X 10.5.

    Both the second and third installation fail. Both of them are running Mac OS X 10.5 and using Quark Xpress 6.5 before. The first try stops installing after entering the validating code and showing the formular to enter the user name. The serial number in this field is not the one of our Quark 8 Xpress license so I guess it is not valid with the validating code. The button to continue installation is not active at this point and so I only could abort the installation. I guess the shown serial number is from Quark Xpress 6.5 and this installation is not an upgrade but a full installation.

    The second try to install aborts the installation much earlier. It shows me an error after starting the setup containing that there already is a valid copy of Quark installed. But there is not!!

    I've deleted all directories I've found containing the name quark but it doesn't change anything. So what files or directories do I have to delete to continue installing / reinstalling Quark Xpress 8?

      Thank you very much,

    Alexander Fieroch

    I'm having the exact same problem, except I was trying to use the trial version to see if I want to upgrade from 6.5. I finally gave up and have been using InDesign.

    Hi there, You didn't ever happen to get a solution to this problem did you? I've got the same issue! Regards Filipa.

    @filipa

    All you need to do is click the "Back Button" after you get the message that "a valid copy is already installed"

    This will take you to the step where you can enter your new Validation Code for QuarkXPress 8.

    Proceed with "Next" button after entering the Validation Code and it should install just fine.

    Re: Couldn't install Quark Xpress 8 on Mac 10.5

     I am new here in the forum but I have the same problem. My new Mac (OS X 10.6.2) does not like the Quark XPress 8.12. I have been told, that it is impossible to install XPress 8 on snow leopard. Quark does not answer my emails. I think, that's not very nice. Does anybody have an idea how to run Quark 8 on a new Mac?

     Hello Juja,

    Please download and install QuarkXPress 8.15 or Later 8.x installers (free update for QuarkXPress 8 users).The crash has been fixed in the latest release.
