Free Image Export XT Now Available for QuarkXPress 8.1!

I'm happy to announce that I just posted our new Image Export XTension to the Quark Labs website. This free XTension for QuarkXPress 8.1 allows you to export high resolution images of the pages within your layout. Head on over to Quark Labs and check it out!

Feel free to post your feedback about the Image Export XT to this thread. How are you using it? What else do you need it to do?

    thanks,

    Hi Dan,

I have problem: I installed Image Exporter on my PC (Windows XP, QXP 8.12) according installation instructions, but the XTension doesn’t work. After re-launching QuarkXPress Xtentions manager pops up with an error of Image Exporter. I tried reinstalling Image Exporter but it did not help.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Marek

On Mac 10.5.8 MacPro I have a problem as well. Installed the mac-xt as well as the lib-file. Runs as admin, does not run as user. Oh, we had this before in "good old" xpress 6.x days. alsways set the rights right :-). tried to set the rights but saw only two rights, not the usual three. for both the xt and the lib. mistake in the mac xt or my very own problem? thnx thomas PS: the other xt print selection xt runs as user as well.

Marek, this is my mistake... I mentioned in the install instructions that on Windows the Visual C++ runtime components have to be installed, but then I neglected to include them in the download archive. Oops! I've submitted a new Windows download to our web team and as soon as they get it posted I'll let you know and you can re-download. My apologies for the mixup.

Schnerger, good catch! These Labs XTs don't go through the same quality assurance testing as our shipping XTs. You're right, the permissions on Image Export are a little wonky. I've also fixed that and we'll replace the download probably tomorrow. I'll update when it's official. Thanks for the feedback!

We updated the download and these issues are resolved. Let me know if you still have any problems loading the XTension.

    thanks,

Hi Dan, yesterday a client wanted some pages as jpegs, so the fastest way to do that was via "export pages as images"-XT. Worked fine BUT you have to know that the XT obviously can't handle relative pages. If your layout starts with page 66 as first page and you need page 68 you have to type "page 3" and not "page 68". To be honest, we had to do some maths as the layout started with 67 and we needed page 122, so that would be ... yes :-) As I already deleted the readme of the XT I cannot check, if you already had told us that in the read-me file. (I am on XPress 8.16 Mac OS 10.6.2 and 10.5.8 german) regards Thomas ================================================== Edit some hours later: been on the labs-site. ok, better read first: "Section Starts are not supported". Ok, I got it, but would be a nice feature, if these were ...

    Dan

I have recently upgraded  from Quark 8.0 to 8.1 and now to 8.1.6 and seem to have two problems:  when I bring a high resolution jpg into the document - it seems to be dull?

almost as if the pic has a dull film over it - also recently printed this (litho) from a pdf file

and the pics in the brochure was just as dull - not sure of this was effected by something in quark??

Second since I updated the program it does not allow me to just drag and drop into the box as before - it seems to create a new box everytime.

    Can you please advise?

    Many thanks

    June

     Hi Dan and all,

I have a support customer who used this XTension and his entire desktop was swiped clean. Everydocument saved at the desktop have dissapered. Have you heard of this? Do you have any suggestions to what he can do? IS there anything he can do? He un-installed and re-installed, as Quark's technical support suggested, but nothing.

My support customer thinks that QuarkXpress have ruined his user-account, there are one more hidden file that has dissapeared.

Thankful for any thoughts concerning this matter!

    Cheers!

Hi Dan, just tried to install imageXporter XT in Quark 8.1.6 - (Mac 10.5.8) it says it's not compatible with this version, any ideas as it would save me a lot of time if I could export JPG's directly.

    Hi Dan,

Using QXP 8 from time to time and thus Iamge exporter occasionnally, I encountered some strange behaviours. Sections are not taken into account (but I then read it is a known issue); and ticking or not Append extension doesn't seem to behave properly.

Have you got other reactions on that?
