quark 8 color shift creating pdf

I have massive color shifts making a PDF from a file with colored grayscale pictures. Color management seems not to work with colored grayscale pics. Any help?

I'm guessing that you are coloring these up with Pantones and exporting as CMYK? but you'll have to go into more details before I can make any suggestions.

Re: quark 8 color shift creating pdf

I work in an accurate color management workflow. I have only problems with colored b/w pics. The effect is especially strong using color tones with a lot of magenta or cyan. Yellow is less problematic. A good example is for example using the color 20-100-80-10 in 50% as picture color and 5% as background color on a b/w pic. When you create a cmyk pdf from this picture and open it in Acrobat you can see the difference compared to what the Quark file shows. Sorry, the knowledgebase page doesn´t help. It talkes only about the very basics. Thanks anyway for your help!

Is color management on in Acrobat? And if it is, are the profile settings the same as in Quark?

Of course. An color management workflow must include all the apps which are involved. Thanks for asking.

Are you saying the onscreen appearance differs between Quark and Acrobat or the eyedropper numbers in Acrobat don't add up to 50% of the selected quark color. Do you have Acrobat Pro?

Not to offence you, is the conversion engine used in all your apps the same one (I think default in Adobe softwares is Adobe (ACE), when it doesn't exist in Quark; if so, try setting ColorSync on both sides, one never knows).
