I installed Quark 8 today on a new iMac OSX 10.6.2. It asks me if I want to activate now and when I do, it unexpectedly quits. There's no error message, but there is a big long string of code if anyone wants to see it.

 this unexpected quits at startup is an issue on older Mac Pro's as well as MacBook Pro's. I have 7 on a MaBook Pro and a Mac Pro running Snow Leoprad and have no problems. Upgraded to 8 and all worked well after install and activation. Next time I came to use it on either machine I got the unexpected quit. The only answer I get from Tech support is to reinstall, which works, but I have to do this every time I need to use Quark. This is not an answer.

Spookily enough this all co-incided with Quark support's new contact process that makes it all the more difficult to get to talk to anybody sensible and experienced.

Quark seem to be going back to the bad old days, which will probably only accelerate the move to InDesign, which I now have to use most of the time since I can't get Quark to work consistently.

 Any answers that actually work will be much appreciated.

 I agree. InDesign is now my primary application because I simply can't use Quark on my new iMac, which came with snow leopard. However, I will still be provided with Quark 8 documents that I'll need to work on and supply to clients. I purchased Quark 8 recently for this reason and now I can't even use it.
