Having installed the Quark 60 day test drive, I started a new document, made a text box and then tried to import a short (2 page) .doc file created in Openoffice 3.1.  Quark freezes and then shuts down.  I tried a different document and it crashed my machine completely - screen of death and reset.  I'm running Windows Vista Home Basic, Core Duo processor with 2 gig of RAM. 

 Any ideas of how to fix this, because I was excited about what I could do with Quark.

QuarkXPress 8 is not tested with files saved in Oppen Office. You need to have MS Office 2003 ro below (MS Office 2007 is not supported as yet).

You may try saving your files to MS Office 97-2003 (*.doc) format and re-import. In case you do not need any formatting in the .doc file, you may save the file and plain text and import it in QuarkXPress.
