hi am i missing something, but i cant seem to find any new PANTONE+ Premium Metallics Coated libraries, where are all these great new colours living? apparently they all start with 10 (10101C, 10102 C etc) ?? thanks all tony

Go to Edit > Edit Colour, in the "Model" field choose "PANTONE metallic coated" and you'll see the new colours: 871-877, 8001-8005 and 8020-8023.

 

For print, you can asign virtually any spot colour for a special, metallic one, the main conditions being to create a distinct colour separation and to tell to your printer office the corresponding, desired colour to use for that spot color. At least, I'm using this procedure with my printing offices for years and I never had problems.

hi all, to get the correct pantone metallic coated and neon pastels etc. (all the new stuff i thought was built into qxp 8.5) i needed to log into pantone.com, create an account - you can then download an app called PANTONE+ Digital Libraries for Quark XPress® it'll will install all the latest pantone swatches, dont waist your time looking for them in the base 8.5 upgrade tony

It turns out there was an error on our end and these new libraries didn't get into the original 8.5 updater. We corrected that today and the updater now installs the libraries; however, if you already installed 8.5 and you want these colors then you'll need to download the Pantone Plus installer from Pantone as mentioned by tonyc. Just go to www.pantone.com, then follow the menu to Products > Graphics, and find the link "Update to Pantone Plus" in the lower-right corner of the page. This will download an installer that will place the libraries into your QuarkXPress folder. I apologize for the inconvenience. We will post a bulletin about this on the main Forum page shortly.

I've tried a couple of times to download this "new" 8.5 updater and both times Verification fails when trying to open the .dmg. The "old" 8.5 updater verified ok but I've trashed it.

EDIT just a glitch at my end I think.
