Hi there, unfortunately I can't launch QXP9 - it gives me an error message: This version of "XPress Preferences" is incompatible with this version of QuarkXPress. Hello Klaus,

Please perform the below mentioned steps in order to resolve the issue:-

Please navigate to HDD\ Users\ {current user}\ Library\ Preferences\ Quark and delete the QuarkXPress 9.0 folder and check.

If the problem persists,create a new Folder inside the HDD>Applications> QuarkXPress 9 Folder and name it "Preferences" with a capital "P" and see if that helps.

You can also try to disable QuarkXPress XTensions by navigating to HDD>Applications> QuarkXPress 9 Folder >XTension folder and move all the XTensions to XTension disabled folder and then see the results.

If it helps to launch QuarkXPress, please isolate the corrupt XTension by dragging XTensions in a group to the XTension folder from XTension disabled folder.

This could be due to some permissions issue or font corruption in the other user. Please try the following steps:

• Launch Font Book.
• Select all the font by pressing Command+A.
• Navigate to File > Validate fonts. This process of validationg fonts may take some time.
• Once the fonts are validated, delete the ones found with Serious problems.

Now launch QuarkXPress and see the results.

You can also isolate the fonts by creating a folder named "Test" on the desktop and then moving the fonts from the below given locations one by one:

HDD\ Users\ {Current User}\ Library \Fonts

HDD\ Library \ Fonts

If QuarkXPress launches after isolating the fonts, we need to isolate the corrupt font.

Please try to repair the permissions on the user account by going to Mac HDD > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility

Launch Disk Utility and choose Hard Drive

Click on Verify Disk Permissions and once the verification is complete, choose Repair Disk permissions.

Another not-so-successful try: I copied the Preferences from the 'functioning user account' to my main account with the stubborn QXP 9. Now QXP is dying silently - in other words the error message 'This version ... (89)' does not appear, but QXP still crashes. This is worse than a shot in the dark ... Cheers Klaus
