Ever since I upgraded to Lion 10.7.2, Quart crashes on saves. Now my files are "locked" somehow, and I get a dialog when I try to reopen them that changes won't be saved. This problem (the crash on saves) crashes my whole computer forcing me to do a hard reboot, using the power button. I've been using 8.1 with no problems until now. I found an upgrade to 8.5 and am downloading it. Any ideas out there?

 I have the same problems. MacBook Pro (Early 2011) with Lion 10.7.2 installed. My 8.5 worked fine on SnowLeopard. When I only open QX 9.1 there is no problems. After opening a layout it works a few minutes but when I will save the work takes QX all processcraft (96%) and the computer is freezing. Only hard reboot helps. I had the same problem with 8.5 and now I am testing 9.1 but it is not better anyway

I have the same problem. the first time all my document was OUT. I was forced to go to Time machine to have it. All time i want to save, all time i have a BIG beug. je continue en français c'est plus facile pour moi... désolée. La seule combine que j'ai trouvé pour pouvoir avancer mon travail qui est, bien sûr, urgent, c'est de réaliser le travail sans sauvegarder (avec gros risque de plantage j'en suis consciente alors toutes les 10 minutes je sauvegarde sur time machine) et de sauvegarder. Alors, le logiciel gèle, je le force à quitter, je redémarre mon ordinateur et là "oh surprise" mon travail s'est auto-sauvegardé! et je peux continuer. et je recommence, je travaille un peu, je sauvegarde (pomme s), cela plante, je force à quitter, je redémarre l'ordi etc, etc, etc... autre chose étrange, si je ne redémarre pas mon ordinateur après avoir forcer à quitter x-press, et que je demande à rouvrir x-press, un message d'erreur me dit qu'un autre utilisateur utilise cette version...c'est pourquoi je dois redémarrer l'ordi à chaque fois. je suis sur MacBook Pro depuis le mois de juillet, j'ai Mac os 10.7.2 et x-press 9.1. et je n'ai ce problème que depuis hier, le 19/10/11.

All my layouts came from QXpress 8.5. Today I fixed a new layout in 9 and I had absolutely no problams . Saving works fine too. Do everything in 9 and I think your problems gone.

le problème est que je suis sur un dossier lourd que je ne peux recommencer à zéro. pour le prochain dossier oui je pourrais tout faire sur 9 mais pour celui-là qui est presque fini en plus, je ne peux pas. je l'ai démarré sur 7 et je dois le finir sur 9.1. tout allait bien avant la mise à jour mac os de ce week end... je vais essayer d'appeler Quark lundi pour leur demander conseil. si vous avez d'autres astuces je prends.

I also threw two files from the Preferences folder named com.quark.quarkupdate.plist and com.quark.quarkupdate.preferences.plist.

et cela vous avez supprimé les problèmes... ...sans tout foirer?!

Sorry, my french isn´t god enough. This above was not a good solution. My problems, when I am saving a document are back. It is not possible to save  - the processor in computer goes high, temperature is growing and I have to shut down the computer.

I'm having the exact same problem. I can save my work a couple of times, then the next time I save the fans go on high and Quark Xpress becomes unresponsive. I have to do a hard reboot and then if I run disk utility I find my disk is irrepairably corrupt and have to wipe it and restore everything - a 5 hour job. I simply cannot use Quark Xpress any more. This is on a three month old Macbook Pro. On my old iMac with the same OS and same files, everything works fine. btw the crashing occurs with Xpress v 8, 9 and 9.1.

j'ai également un mac pro d'après ce que vous dites si j'installe xp9.1 cela va fonctionner??? et savez vous si xp 9 fonctionne avec mac os 10.5 car c'est celui que j'i sur mon mac pro...

 So here it is. I work in parallel with two different documents. DOC1 was reconstructed from 8.5 and there was something wrong already  the first time I saved in version 9.1. The whole time I have problems with that. DOC2, I made it from scratch in 9.1 and it works perfectly, but don´t use autosave and if you saving your work "save it as..." with a new name every time.

I've downloaded 9.1 which some of you say doesn't conflict with Lion (although others say it does) and also went back in my Time Capsule to restore a copy of my book from before the problems began. Unfortunately this doesn't work for me. Quark gives me dialog 16, "Quark cannot open this version of this file," although it opens other 8.5 files with no problem. Is there something about restoring files from Time Capsule that corrupts them, or was my file corrupted long before it started to act up? I'm really in a bind here. The project in question is a 250 page cookbook, and the LAST thing I want to do is go back and recreate all those layouts!

What I find shameful is that so far nobody from Quark even acknowledged what we are saying. It destroyed my hard-drive and my Quark project it forced me to reinstall everything from scratch.

I find it very difficult to believe that Quark will surivive its historical feud with his main oppositor Adobe if they continue screwing up things like this.

What I can tell my fellow-buddies here is that th eproblemis only 10.7.2

If you have a chance go back to a disk with 10.7.1 and just work away.

It's not ALL copies of 10.7.2 though. My MacBook Pro is the one that keeps going corrupt but the exact same files are working fine on my older iMac also running 10.7.2. The crash became so easy to reproduce I was convinced my MacBook pro was broken - maybe it is - and it's currently back being looked at where I bought it from as it's only 3 months old. I almost hope they find something wrong with it so I can just get it fixed and get on with my work.

To resume the problem:

1. It´s only on 10.7.2

2. MacBook Pro (early 2011)

3. When you are saving  your document it will be corrupt. The processor takes all memory, temperatur is about 90° C and the fans are going high. Only hardreboot helps.

4. To awoid the crasch you have to save your document in differrent names every time.
