QXP 9.2 and MacOS 10.7.3 incompatible! (QXP 9.2.1 fixes this)

As mentioned before in a locked thread QXP 9.2 and the official release of MacOS 10.7.3 are incompatible! The symbols of the tool palette and the other palettes dissappear. I can confirm this for two machines: MacBook Pro 2010 and MacPro 8 core 3.2. Fortunately I leave all other machines untouched. But this is one of our production macs. Any ideas how I revert to 10.7.2? I have a TimeMachine backup.

    Any help appreciated

We have the same problem with QXP 9.2. and the official release of MacOS 10.7.3 (no symbols in some of the palettes) ... on our "test"-Mac: Mac mini (Mid 2011), 2,5 GHz ...

Now do a full TimeMachine restore, back to 10.7.2. I hope the Quark License files work again after the restore. My colleagues will kill me if this doesn't work.

A friendly user mailed me great workaround. Go to preferences - Extension manager and select open on start. After restart quark the extension manager shows up. Klick on ok and the icons are back. Unfortunately this workaround arrives to late for me. I killed one machine and waiting for the Timemachine restore.

    Hi mac_nick,

thank you very much for this.

We tested this on several machines and several combinations and it seems to solve the issue with most icons.

So until there's an official fix available, this seems to be a rather unusual still effective workaround.

Nevertheless we are of course searching for the root cause of this problem and how to solve this properly.

    Thanks again

It works for some icons but not all of them (see the arrows in measurement palette). When I opened the Xtension panel, many of them were duplicated one without the .xtn (normal) but another with the .xtn and these ones had an caution icon (unloaded). Note that Quark 8.5 works still fine... and all problems disappear in Quark 9 when all extensions are disabled.

I have less problems with 8.5.x just some little arrows and the items of shape menu

I had the same problem after first updating to 10.7.3. Looking around the Web, I learned that a lot of users are having even more problems with the new Lion update. That was until a user suggested running Disk Utility and checking and repairing Permissions. I just did that, and lo and behold, the palette icons returned without having to run Time Machine or do a reinstall of 10.7.2. Also pointed out by the user was making sure the download was the combo one (acquired manually) rather than simply running Software Update—in the end, that seemed to help a lot of frustrated Lion users, too.

Icons suddenly gone (Quark 8.5.1, OS X 10.7.3)

Alright, I'm about to throw Quark somewhere. It was working absolutely fine up until about an hour ago. Suddenly the icons in the left toolbar are gone, as are *most* of the icons in the right side panels (Page layout, colors, layers, etc.) Here's a screen grab to show you what I mean: http://www.ubermick.com/images/quarkscreen.png I've trashed the preference files, restarted, rebuilt preferences, zapped PRAM, all to no avail. I'd blame the Lion update form 10.7.2 to 10.7.3 yesterday, but as I mentioned, I was using it this morning and didn't see an issue. Thoughts?

Never mind - saw the post above (or below!) about the same issue with Quark 9.2, and the open Xtensions manager trick works. I'm hoping Quark resolves this issue in 8.5.1 instead of using it as a reason to force people to upgrade AGAIN.

Nonsense it all. It is obvious that the interface was not ready for such radical changes in the system. The problem is solved: ->Preferences->Application->Xtension Manager->Always. Clumsy, awkward, yet the only way. Everything Else - shamanism, with unpredictable consequences.
