    Ace_Tip #3: "Custom shapes" reflexion

    Platform: Mac and PC
    Applications: Quark XPress
    XTensions: none

    Hi all,

If you ever find yourself in a position where you need to mirror a custom shape, here a short procedure to help you with the process:

    • Make sure the Item->Edit->Shape option is not checked.

      To create an horizontal reflextion:
    • Copy the width of your shape from the measurement palette.
    • Drag the right (or left) bounds of your shape across its opposite side.
You should end up with your shape flipped horizontally but distorted.
    • Paste the copied width back into the measurement palette.

      To create a vertical reflextion:
    • Copy the height of your shape from the measurement palette.
    • Drag the top (or bottom) bounds of your shape across its opposite side.
You should end up with your shape flipped vertically but distorted.
    • Paste the copied height back into the measurement palette.

    Voilà!

    Hope this helps!

Michel I think I already gave that tip in a way or another several months ago in response to sb who could not figure out how to flip his custom shape.
Anyway you put it all very clearly and in the right forum
Thanks for your help and call again!
(As for the survey I don't know what to tick  )

How does this work in Quark 8.2? I can't find Edit > Shape option in Item menu. I have tried everything, but the shape I've drawn simply won't flip. Please help!

Re: Ace_Tip #3: "Custom shapes" reflexion

    Hi, Millamagia,

Edit Shape is not needed anymore as it is automatically selected when you choose a Bezier tool and automatically deselected when you choose any other tool.

What prevents this (unless you are very very quick ;-) is the preference when live drag should occur.

So set the preference "Delay before live refresh drag" (in Application >  Input Settings) to a higher value than "0.1", e.g. 1 or 2 seconds.

    Regards
