as some of you already noticed, installing the KB2753842 patch Microsoft submitted today (for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7) causes some issues with glyphes (text) disappearing. It only happens when this patch by Microsoft is installed.
We are currently investigating this issue and also reached out to Microsoft. It seems that there's a general change how Windows treats Type-1 fonts, as also other applications (e.g. from Adobe and Corel) are effected.
Microsoft acknowledges the problem under "Known issues" for the patch here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2753842
Since this is a security patch, Quark cannot recommend uninstalling the Microsoft security patch. Users who choose to uninstall the MS security patch need to understand the details from Microsoft and assess their risks.
