Hi,

I used to have a really useful apple script app for OS9 Quark 4.1 that automatically created a document like a catlogue containing pictures from a selected folder of pictures, and placed the file names underneah the picture.

This is a really useful automation and saves me about a .5 days work.

Now I use OS 10.4 and Quark 6.5 I am really looking forward to finding the new solution.

There's a similar function in Photoshop you might like to try:

File > Automate > Contact Sheet II

Creates PSD files with a page of thumbnails (number per page etc all customisable) that can be saved off in whatever format you need for printing.

yes I was already aware of the contact sheet maker feature in Photoshop.

however the script i was refering to is so much more, you can copy and paste from the thumbnails into the quark doc you are working on. and then mark images that have been used (very useful for long books etc).

I am still having trouble with it running on mi iMac G5 10.4.5
it works fine on my iMac G4 10.3.9

just a minor annoyance now, saves me 4 hours work per book anyway!

I'm not sure if you want to buy an XT if the script meets your needs, but Contact Page from Badia ($70) does the job quite well. It's compatible with Quark 4/5/6. I'm using it with Quark 4.11 and it works great!

What I was most impressed with is its speed. It can build pages very quickly.... MUCH faster than using Photoshop. And when it's done, you can, of course, modify the pic/text boxes as needed.
