    Drag and Drop

I just read this in the DesignTools Monthly issue of November:

    Matrix DragAndDropXT 1.0.3
Matrix DragAndDropXT is a free XTension for QuarkXPress 6 that lets you drag and drop text and pictures into boxes on your QuarkXPress document page. Uniquely, you can also drag pictures or text from a database or Web browser. Just create a text or picture box in your QuarkXPress document, then drag text or a picture onto it from either a Finder window (or the Desktop), or a Web browser or database. The original picture files are copied into a subfolder of the folder that contains your QuarkXPress document. It can optionally copy the original text files as well.

Sure it'll help many of you! (Not tested personnaly. Not yet...)

It works. I have not extensively tested it because I have a different XT for this, but it works.

    Jean-Marie,

Your link needs to have a design tools monthly login to get to the page... Is there a URL for the XT developer's home page, perhaps?

    peace,
    Linda :D

I have tried to find a way to "change case" without having to go to the menu for it.

I downloaded the XPert Tools Demo. I couldn't find one that was free. Also, it doesn't recognize my version of Quark 7.3 (the icon is greyed out)

I also tried to do the global keyboard shortcut for change case, but obviously I am doing something wrong. How does Quark know what it is I want to do with the newly assigned keyboard shortcut?

Any clarification would be most helpful

    Hi, Tonya,

    TonyaMorris:

The free version only exists for QuarkXPress 7.x and can be found here:

[quote:79c23fb609]I also tried to do the global keyboard shortcut for change case, but obviously I am doing something wrong. How does Quark know what it is I want to do with the newly assigned keyboard shortcut?

What's a global keyboard shortcut? I assume you mean to assign a custom keyboard shortcut to QuarkXPress menus under MacOS X? Or did you try Global (which doesn't really work then)?

Assigning custom shortcuts to QuarkXPress under MacOS X is quite feasible and possible and just requires a few steps:

    - Go to System Preferences
    - Go to "Keyboard & Mouse"
    - Go to section "Keyboard Shortcuts"
    - Scroll down to "Application Keyboard Shortcuts"
    - Hit +
    - Select Application "QuarkXPress 7.3" (if it doesn't show there select it via 'Other...')
    - Add the menu title you want the shortcut to trigger. This can be a bit tricky, as you need to enter it exact, so if the Menu is "Other..." try three dots and the ellipses (Option+Period)
    - Add the shortcut key, make sure the OS doesn't use it.

    Done.

    Hope that helps
    Matthias

P.S.: Yes, we are looking into offering this as a feature. First, to have Windows users benefit too, to make it easier to set up keys, and - most important of all - to also allow other functions to be triggered (above just works with menus).
