Linked Picture boxes

How do you create multiple linked picture boxes to each other? In other words, I would like to link 1 image and tile them within multiple picture boxes.

Please advise

You can't. You can only link text boxes. The copy then goes from one box to the next when imported.

Did you mean grouping image boxes?

what do you mean by "grouping image boxes"? are you referring to just using the group function on selected boxes once image has been placed?

Yes, that is what I mean.

If you are wanting to create multiple instances of the same image (or just multiple instances of the same image box) you'll need to duplicated the same image box as many times as you need.

You can't "link" image boxes, place an image in the first one and have it replicate to all the "linked" image boxes.

Or am I misunderstanding what you need?

you are half right, my bad in not explaining correectly. yes I want to have multiple (grouped) picture(image) boxes, but at the same time need the images within each box to be in a different position. Tiling but within the document and not left to print dialog or RIP to do so.

I hope this makes more sense.

By what you have already addressed, it seems that I will need to do this manually and figure out the math for position. I was thinking to far ahead and thought that there would bea tool for this...

I think I see what you are going for. I have done this in the past with grayscale images to make pseudo screens and tints and what not. Here is what I usually do.

First make one image box. Import the image at the total size that all the "tiles" will be (when added up).

Find out how many "tiles" of the image you are going to be using. Then duplicate the original pic box as many times as is equal to your total amount of tiles. All of these image boxes will be stacked on top of each other, which is what you want.

Take the top image box and adjust it to the size of your first tile, say the one on the top left. Then select the imagae box underneath that one. Size it to the size of the next tile that's right next to the first one you did. Keep going until they are all sized. Then group them.

You now have a "tiled" image of the same image and because you did it this way all the edges match up and your math works out. No overlaps.

Does that make sense?

I think of another way of doing that, but maybe this won't match your wishes.
Create and place all the tiles you wish (thus the pic boxes) and merge them. THEN simply import the picture in that "group" (that is actually a single picture box). The advantage of this method is you can replace the picture afterwards so it moves inside of "all the boxes". If you get what I mean... Hope this helps!
