    C75 and C76 errors + workaround

    C75 or C76

To keep from getting this error in Mac OSX:
    • Go to system prefs
    • Click on Classic 9 (even if you don't have classic installed)
    • Click the Advanced tab
    • Click Rebuild Desktop
    • Highlight your harddrive name
    • Click Rebuild

    Hi,

A Related Error "Cannot write file", can also occur.
    Reason being:
    1. Assets are being CHECKED-IN from a Network Location,
which does not have WRITE Permissions. Since, the .qhd
(Quark Header) file is generated at the Source Location. In
this case, the same will not be generated due to no
WRITE Permissions at the Source Location.

    2. Also on WINDOWS there is a Certain LIMIT to the LENGTH
of Filename Hierarchy. Therefore, if the CHECK-IN path
becomes too long, it will result in a similar ERROR being
    thrown to the End User.

    Pease,

C75/76 error relates to the corruption of the Desktop Database of OS X in MAC.
Sometimes, the files created by applications like Photoshop 7.0 etc (which is a Carbonized Application), adds Desktop comments for MAC OS 9 which are not supported by MAC OS X, which might results in the corruption of the Desktop Database of OS X.
In order to correct this error, kindly "Rebuild the Desktop" by going through the mentioned steps:

    1) Go to System Preferences ---> Classic ---> Advanced tab

    2) Click "Rebuild Desktop" button.

Note: If MAC OS X and OS 9 are installed on the same volume then the above 2 hidden files will be common.
After restarting MAC, the said 2 files will be created implicitly and then try clean getting/checking-out the assets.

There is no Desktop Rebuild option available for Tiger, as there is no System Preference available for Classic. You must download a third party app such as TinkerTool to show hidden system files and trash the Desktop DB and DF files located on the user's harddrive. Restart Media Manager and it should work.
