Before you ask about potential issues here, may we suggest trying the following five easy steps first:
1) Update to latest version
Make sure to update to the latest version of QuarkXPress first, as your issue might already be fixed there.

2) Update to latest printer driver / PPD
We have noticed that a lot of printing problems are caused by old PPDs or printer drivers (e.g. CUPS), especially since QuarkXPress is Universal Binary (version 7.01 and higher).
Make sure that you install a 64-Bit Printer Driver when you use a 64-Bit Operating System.
Visit the website of your printer vendor to find the latest updates.
