Quark 7.3.1 crash on Leopard using QLA

    Hi,

I have an Intel iMac (2.0GHz Core Duo) running Leopard 10.5.1 and Quark 7.3.1 and every time I start QuarkXPress it crashes.

We get our licenses from a local QLA-server and just before Quark crashes the dialog says: "Searching for license". I can ping and telnet to the QLA server on the correct port (9999) so the connection is OK.

What puzzles me is the following:

If I boot the iMac in Safe Mode and run Quark it starts without problems!

And if I start Quark on another Mac with the same setup (Leopard 10.5.1, Quark 7.3.1 and QLA license) it works fine as well so it seems to be related to this one machine.

So maybe it's related to something which runs in Normal Mode and not in Safe Mode? I have cleaned out all font problems on the machine, cache directories and so on and there are no suspicious Startup Items I can think of.

It's a clean install from a Quark 7.3.1 trial download which I then activate with our 'Validation Code' so there should be no "left-overs" from previous installations.

I have attached a crash report and any input you could give would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    - Kristian

Quark 7.3.1 crash on Leopard using QLA

Problem solved! 'Internet Sharing' was the culprit.

During a test (not related to this) 'Internet Sharing' (under 'System Preferences' -> 'Sharing') had been enabled and this caused QuarkXPress to crash when looking for a license.

I can reproduce the problem on another Mac running Leopard so it seems to be a bug.

Re: Quark 7.3.1 crash on Leopard using QLA

I have a G5 running Tiger and Quark 6.52 with the same issue. I get an error that "The emergency key for this copy of QuarkXPress is damaged. [4241]" when trying to use the emergency key. Internet Sharing is disabled, so that's not it. Any other thoughts?
