It seems that you are using a CD to install QuarkXPress. This may happen if the installer is not able to read one or more files from the CD. Please download the installer for QuarkXPress 8 from Quark Website and install again. This should take care of the issue.

You may install QuarkXPress 8.12 directly using the updater, QuarkXPress 8.0 CD is not required. All QuarkXPress installers for 8.x series are installers as well as updaters.
