Activating version 9

Was running v9.0 on Mac OS 10.6.8. Had a massive crash, not when running QX, which eventually required a complete reformat of the hard disk and restoration of all software from backup. Everything is OK except QX9. I am asked to reactivate it from the existing restored file and so have done this with all necessary details of validation code etc.
Get to the end of entering details and am presented with first a window saying activation is OK and then press continue to restart QX. This I do but immediately after restart the request for activation continues and this happens every time I try to activate.

Have also tried to install from the original disk but this won't proceed with the installation.

Please has anyone any ideas. I do realise that v9 is no longer supported by Quark but the program was giving no trouble before my crash and there is no change to the OS that is now running again. I do not need a later version of QX and currently maintain a special Mac with a lower OS as indicated to continue to use QX9 and other software that will not run on later versions of the OS.

Hi Wizz,

please try deleting preferences first, maybe that works?

Thanks
Matthias

Hi Matthias

Thanks for your suggestion however this didn't help as I still had the same problem. Nevertheless in desperation instead of accepting full install to set it up I chose 30 day trial. Surprisingly this worked and I can now use the program in the normal way. I am concerned at what will happen after 30 days but if I am asked for registration details of course I have them and hope that they give me unlimited use.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!

In 30 days please let me know what happened, maybe I can help.

Thanks

Re your request for info I was on holiday when then thirty days were up but on my recent return I checked the situation. Could not use Quark as the 'trial' period was over. I have tried the same approach and perhaps surprisingly I was able to select another thirty day trial and this seems to be continuing. When the time is over will see what happens but it looks as if I can have numerous 'trials'. It's a solution but not a very good one.
