Graham PM (Quark) wrote:Sure. These numbers represent values in binary 8 bit. There are therefore 256 possible values (2**8). The minimum value is zero, so the max possible value can only be 255. To convert from the range 0 - 255 to percentages, you have to multiply by 100/255. That is the same as saying divide by 255/100, hence divide by 2.55.
Oops! my bad! Nice shot, rcantin!

Hi Jean-Marie,In real life divide by 256 or 255 and your eyes wont see any differences! Especialy on very light colors like the one used by the OP.I suspected this fact so its why I asked Graham for complimentary information. Please see no offence if I wanted to make that clear.P.S. I know Quentin is widely used in Europe as a first name. But in my case Cantin is my surname.

No offence taken! On the contrary! And you're totally right, the difference would be tiny. But on my side I prefer to be as accurate as I can. At the end of the day, I think human eye cannot see any difference in a 5%-shift of a CMYK color value. Never mind!
As for Quentin, I edited my message in the seconds after I posted it cause I had the name in my mind but then remembered it was not like that. Thinks are even clearer now! OK.
