Quark 2015 crash on launch

Can't believe what I see here: colleague working with Quark 2015 since more than a year and without changing anything in the system (win8) Quark 2015 refuses to start. Reinstallation does not work. Firewall deactivated. NO error message!!!!

Startup screen appears, uses about 30% of the CPU and for a few seconds the hard disc - that's it. Startup screen freezes and nothing happens - even after 15 Minutes.

Preferences Folder created in Quark Program Folder
Preferences deleted in app Folder
Standard Browser changed from Chrome to Firefox and back

Support offers to help if I pay 25 EUR.

No comparable post in the forum or somewhere else in the web.

=> anything positive to report? No.

have you tried deleting preferences and emptying caches?

Can you advise on how to delete preferences and caches please?
We are experiencing this same problem on just one of our PCs with Quark 2015 on Windows 10.

QuarkXPress installs an application called QuarkCacheCleaner, this way you can clean caches.

By default Preferences can be found here:
C:\Users\<yourname>\AppData\Local\Quark\QuarkXPress 2015
Delete everything in that folder.

Works now?
