Hello,

I am sickened to learn that Quark 10 will not install on El Capitan. I purchased this only 2 years ago and apparently it is no longer supported. Awful!!!!!

I have adobe software which is from 2007 which works a treat on the new machine.

I am now told that I have to pay £299.....No chance. Its disgusting.

If quark 10 is not supported on el capitan for technical reasons, then fine. Let users upgrade for free!

Hi Lewis,

unfortunately El Capitan changes something in the way mouse movements are handled in Cocoa applications. Therefore, though unsupported, QuarkXPress 8 and 9 (being Carbon) work "ok" on El Capitan whereas QuarkXPress 10 (being Cocoa) crashes.

Not sure if we can do something about the crashes of QuarkXPress 10 on El Capitan, looking into it. However even if we can solve it, so that you could run it, we do not plan to support QuarkXPress 10 on El Capitan.

And when it comes to support, yes, we still support QuarkXPress 10 and 2015, that is within their system requirements of course.

I have to say, Matthias, that it stung to learn the upgrade price per licence was £299 after upgrading to v10 only 15 months ago.

I don't 100% blame Quark - Apple are becoming notorious for their obsessive upgrades forcing unncessary hardware and software issues, but the choice is kind of being taken away from us by hardware and software developers. Upgrade or receive no support on software/hardware which is only a couple of years old.

I was very wary of Adobe's implementation of a subscription, but to be honest it works well and we are not getting hit with huge invoices every 18 months or so. OK the cost difference may not be *huge*, but spread monthly, it just makes sense.

And really, if Quark continue on this path, then they should consider not then forcing us to purchase tickets or pay for chat support.

Just my thoughts.

Because I bought QuarkxPress 2015 on Feb 14 2016. I am not entitled to a free upgrade. The cutoff date was Feb 16.
If I had known I would have waited. I'm a user since 1990. Some customer service right.
I won't buy a new version.

Hi Motego,

whatever cutoff date we decide for, somebody will have always bought a few days before. That's unfortunately the nature of promotions.

That said, on Feb 14 we had the Buy One Get One Free promo still running, so you were entitled for 2 licenses for the price of 1. Did you make use of that promotion?

I only needed one copy, so that wasn't a selling point. If you had given the option of get one free or wait 2 days and get a free upgrade I certainly would have taken the upgrade.
How about a better price for the upgrade?
I would be willing to pay $100.00 for the 2016 upgrade from 2015.

I understand. Just, as Feb 16 is already the grace period (remember, we only announced the new version and the new promo on March 1), it was impossible to do, as in Feb we didn't talk about QX2016 yet.
