Installation on MAC OS Sierra 10.12 +

Postby Vericas » 17 Jan 2017, 01:50

Hi Everyone,

I need your assistance and confirmation on this. The support does not help me very much and not user friendly, therefore I have come to this place. I do hope I can get some confirmation and answer for questions below:

1. I have problem on installing the Quark Express 2015 on MAC OS Sierra 10.12. I have copied to application folder and run through it but it does not resolve the issue. I have also downloaded the installer from "http:/www.quark.com/en/Support/Downloads/Details.aspx?fid=343" but it does not give me 2015 version, It gives me 2016 version instead and my Keys for 2015 are not working.

2. There are some Quark Express 2015 on other MAC OS Sierra 10.12.2 and it has been installed previously before the update, but somehow after the update. The Quark express have problem in converting the image to PDF, It is only show a portion of the image as result. Is there anything that I can do about this?

3. The help ticketing system is certainly not open as it does not allow anyone able to consult for help. I have to login and unable to register cause there's no register link provided.

Is my only choice is to upgrade from version 2015 to 2016?. But I just bought this serial number and stated that it's supported MAC OS 10.12 on the "http://files.quark.com/download/documentation/QuarkXPress/2015/English/QXP%202015%20July%20Update%20Known%20and%20Resolved%20Issues_en-us.pdf"

Thank you

Many Thanks for the solution, I have found this link is the only 2015 version that support MAC Sierra 10.12 OS

http://www.quark.com/Support/Downloads/ ... px?fid=340

However, I do still have one problem with this software. Whenever I convert to PDF document, It's automatically converted my page wrongly

From Horizontal Page, it converted from Potrait to Landscape. It resulting my work become half of the page and it messed out the layout I have setup. Is there a settings I need to change for this?.

Are you using the Export to PDF option or Postscript and distilling method to produce a PDF?

Hi Vericas,

I haven't run into that issue, so please bear with me as I ask what are likely dumb questions.

When you write "From Horizontal Page, it converted from Potrait to Landscape," I take the word "Horizontal" to be a landscape page, so I am failing to understand initially.

But you also write that it is only producing half the layout in the PDF. this is the part I have never seen with the exception of distilling and Distiller being set up incorrectly.

First thing I would suggest is trying to isolate the problem. So if this was happening to me, I would try a previous publication and see if it was still happening. Or, even starting a new one and see if it is happening. If either of these also produce the same error, I would suggest deleting your preferences with QXP shut down by navigating to the QXP installation folder and under that is a folder called Tools. The Quark Cache cleaner is there. When you run it there is a checkbox for deleting preferences, make sure to check that box.

Then restart Q, open a document or create a new one and see if it is fixed. If this fixes a new document but your publication that brought you here is still affected, then let me know.

Take care, Mike

I came across something similar the other day,
placed a landscape pdf into a landscape layout, 3 times in different positions each into zero degree rotated picture boxes.
printed to landscape media but 2 of the picture boxes came out with the content rotated 90 degrees, so completely different crops.

My result was nothing to do with quark as I was using InDesign CC and the XMPie Dynamic Print command to output to pdf.

My Fix was to clean up the placed pdf by place into InDesign once and Export to a cleaner PDF.

I believe that when you change the page rotation of a pdf to view it in Acrobat Pro, this is saved as a flag in the code (rather than actually rotating content), In my pdf workflow I have a checkbox as to whether or not to honour Acrobat Page Rotation. I'm guessing that my original pdf had this rotation checked and placing into InDesign reads it but printing out to pdf (again assuming XMPie uses an interim postscript stage (just like Quark)) ignores the flag.

lots of assumptions but it might help ? :?

Hi Below are the results:

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x60 ... DL0QbA.jpg - Draft
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x60 ... mx0JAW.jpg - Result
http://imageshack.com/a/img923/6471/rvk7vL.jpg - App List

1. I tried to change the settings in XData to fit - not work
2. Rename the Cache Folders in Indesign app so it does not interfere - not work

I have XData plugin installed, is there a chance because of this?

LLama, Simply what you are saying is:

1. I need to export my work to indesign then export it to PDF?

Is there anyway that I can delete all the caches and configurations on the Indesign or any other app so it wont affect Quark Express?

sorry Vericas I thought your problem was similar to mine, from your screen shots I see it has nothing in common.
From your screenshots it looks like you are exporting to pdf from quark and getting just the bottom half of your page.
I have no idea about XData or what it is but if is a quark XTension you can disable and test without.

2. Rename the Cache Folders in Indesign app so it does not interfere - not work
again no idea what you mean by this, if you are digging into the OS and renaming files I'd be scared. :o
