COLOR PREVIEW NOT CORRECT

Postby Daniele » 08 Oct 2015, 11:47

Hi all, excuse me, but I'm not to be able to preview colored bitmap or grayscale image imported into QuarkXPress 2015 with the same color of box or text created directly into it... This is a very annoying problem that does not allow me to work with this program.
Also, the color management do not let me to preview the same colors that I view in a high resolution PDF file opened with Acrobat Pro.

Please, let me know if there is a solution to solve this serious problem.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

This isn't something I was able to replicate. So I am likely not understanding the issue or set up correctly. Would you be willing to zip up a sample document, Quark file and an image, so I can see what is happening?

Thanks, Mike

Hi Danielle,

This is Q 2015:

Looks the same in the PDF as well.

Which is why if you could ZIP up, then upload the sample that fails for you to dropbox.com or the like, then paste the download link into a message it might be helpful to see first hand with actual files.

Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike, thanks again for your help!

Here the link to download the test files: http://www15.zippyshare.com/v/hOzaGpOs/file.html

Please, if you view the colors correctly (are the same), let me know, if is possible, which is the color setting you use.

Hi Daniele,

I assume that the first listed ICC profile is for some specific device?

I replaced them with the following:

capture-003635.png
capture-003635.png (5.72 KiB) Viewed 4882 times

This is what I see in Q2015:

capture-003636.png (41.78 KiB) Viewed 4882 times

However, just bypassing those ICC profiles the display is the same because those are what are assigned here in this case of missing profiles. The dot gain profile means little to nothing. I suspect it is the first profile, which I assume is for your monitor.

Why the profile is fine in versions prior to Q2015, I don't know. I do know that I had a display profile go funky using a couple other layout applications a few years ago when I installed new versions of them. Worked in the previous versions, not in the new versions. The advice given to me then was to recalibrate and that seemed to work out just fine.

If you are not using a calibrated monitor, try using a system profile, like the generic Apple RGB or the Adobe RGB I used here. If you are using a calibrated monitor, try recalibrating. If recalibration doesn't work, let us know and perhaps Quark would be interested in seeing that profile.

Thank you for your support, Mike.

I'm sorry for the missing profile (RGB was generated from an old monitor calibration), but also with the updated monitor profile (07/2015) or Adobe RGB profile the result is the same... with the gray profile too.

But the problem more serious, is that the color of all graphics (vector or raster) couldn't to be different, although if the color calibration is wrong.

Now, unfortunately I must to convert my old works for others new software, because without a solution I can't work professionally with last version of QuarkXPress...
