Issues seeing HTML5 Publications?

Postby Matthias Guenther (Quark) » 09 May 2016, 06:15

Hi all,

one thing that many of our testers reported, that the exported HTML5 Publication doesn't seem to work. Testers tried that by dragging index.html into a browser or opening it with a browser.

So please note:
You cannot drag the exported index.html into a browser or just open it via a browser on your machine. Please either use the preview button (at the lower left hand corner of your document window) or deploy the exported files to a webserver first, and then open index.html in a browser.

The reason for that is that some JavaScripts need to be running, so you need to put it into a webserver to display correctly. Your built-in webserver on your OS X or Windows machine is absolutely fine. Or use the preview button, as it starts a local webserver.

For your customers you should of course host the exported HTML5 Publications on a publicly accessible webserver.

Thanks
Matthias

Lower left hand corner it is.

I see menu: View --> View sets ---> Output Preview.
But that does nothing except turn the area outside of the page dark.
