Export settings and import on another machine

Postby pronto » 06 Jul 2017, 09:30

Hi Community,

from earlier versions (eq 8 or 9) we created an image from a fresh installed and already configured version for a roll out on another machines (Only Mac OSX machines but different versions). Tis was possible because all files were stored within one single folder. Now the program files are stored in many different locations and this deployment strategie won't work anymore.

Is it possible to export the settings from a already configured machine, in order to be able to import them on antother machine? Or is it possible to write a script, which makes the settings?

I would like to avoid to enter those settings on each machine separately...

Thanks in advance & Bye Tom

May I know which settings you need to replicate on all the machines?

Are you talking about the "Validation Code" that each user needs to enter on first launch, for licensing?

Are you trying to deploy QuarkXPress 2016 or 2017?

Servus Sarbjit,

>May I know which settings you need to replicate on all the machines?

All that settings a user will setup in order to work in his specific work environment. Colormanagement settings for example, print layout settings, in short all these settings are made in the preferences panel. Are these settings stored in more than one file in more than one location?

Do you need the exact settings? Than I've to speak with an user for details.

>Are you talking about the "Validation Code" that each user needs to enter on first launch, for licensing?

No, we are using a QLA server and the license settings are each time the same.

2016

Thanks for your attention & Bye Tom

By default all the Preferences are saved here:
User Library > Preferences > Quark > QuarkXPress 2016.

However, you may also create global preferences, applicable to all the users. Just create a "Preferences" folder parallel to QuarkXPress. Make all the changes that you need. Quit QuarkXPress. You may then share the folder containing both QuarkXPress and Preferences with all the users.

Servus Sarbjit,

Where exactly should I create this folder? Can you describe the path with more details please? Anyway, the settings copied from the Users Library from a already configured machine seems to work....

Thanks a lot & Bye Tom
