Selecting Fonts

Postby Jim8Davis » 23 Oct 2017, 18:45

I recently upgraded from Quark 2016 to 2017. So far I have only come across one change that I really don't like. Let's say I am working in Helvetica and want to change to Helvetica Condensed. In 2016 if I put the cursor on the Helvetica box in the tool bar, Helvetica immediately came up (out of my list of all my fonts) and I could quickly then select Helvetica Condensed. But with 2017, instead of immediately taking me to the complete Helvetica suite, it takes me to the top of my list of fonts and I have to scroll down to find the Helvetica suite where I can select Condensed. Since I have over 200 fonts this is a needless time waster having to scroll down to find Helvetica. And I can see absolutely no upside to this change. I hope there will be a future version of 2017 that gets rid of this change.

Hi Jim,

QuarkXPress remembers the last used fonts at the top of the list if you find that useful. In preferences you can specify how many should be remembered or you can turn that off.

Thanks
Matthias

OK, I never noticed that the last used font occurs at the top of the font list. That works and will save me a lot of time.

Thanks -
