Right side smart quotes bug

Postby AdamG » 17 Nov 2017, 13:09

Reporting a bug:

If you try to insert an ending smart quote BETWEEN 2 LETTERS (i.e. if you edit an existing phrase but there's no space between the letters), Quark will insert a single quote, not a double quote.

It's subtle, but dangerous.

Hi AdamG,

Ending double quotes generally have a space between it and the next word. Kindly give some linguistic examples in which ending double quotes and following word don't have a space between them.

Just saw your reply from November. I'm not sure why I didn't get an email that you posted.

Examples of “Right side smart quotes bug”

• Adding a “smart” quote after a word and before adding a space works fine.

• Adding a smartquote within a word (for example when editing) doesn’t work:
So if you type “smartquote”, then go back to change the one word to 2 words by trying to add the double-quote before adding the space, you'll get a single quote mark. smart’quote

This behavior is unique to Quark 2017. It shouldn't happen... I'm hitting the shift key to try to insert the double quote but Quark ignores the shift key.

Quark 2016 adds the double-quote correctly.
