Working with text...

Postby PetarMakedonecot » 19 Jan 2016, 07:55

QXP is really nice tool to work with, more intuitive than InDesign, so it's very disappointing not to be where it deserves. There is hard work in front of you. Nevertheless, new tools are always welcomed:

1. Drop caps runaround
2. First word as a drop cap
3. Add line type (double, dashed...) in Underline styles
4. Rotation of individual characters in any angle in a text (not in a separate frames)
5. Free character displacement (as in CorelDRAW) in one text frame
6. Background color around selected text/paragraph
7. Frames (double, dashed...) around selected text/paragraph
8. Combination of 6. and 7. on one selected text/paragraph
9. Manual correction (repositioning) of diacritical marks
10. Text outlines

11. Mathematical formulas
12. Remove "Step and Repeat" and rename "Super Step and Repeat" as "Step and Repeat" and add "Make a grid" that will make positioning of the elements on the page much easier and quicker

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your suggestions. We will log them as enhancements to be reviewed while planning for future releases. I would need some further information with regard to the use case scenarios for your suggestions and the frequency of their usage in real time.

1. Drop caps runaround: Why does drop caps needs a separate runaround. Does any application support this feature. Kindly provide some more details with the regard to the suggestion and illustrations if possible.

2. First word as a drop cap: Does any application support this feature. Kindly provide some more details with the regard to the suggestion and illustrations if possible.

4. Rotation of individual characters in any angle in a text (not in a separate frames). Does any application support this feature. Kindly provide some more details with the regard to the suggestion and illustrations if possible.

5. Free character displacement (as in CorelDRAW) in one text frame: Which kind of displacement are you referring to? QXP has kerning/ tracking/ baseline shift. Kindly provide some more details with the regard to the suggestion and illustrations if possible.

7. Frames (double, dashed...) around selected text/paragraph: This is possible through anchor box. Apply frame to the anchored box
Kindly provide some more details and illustrations if possible.

9. Manual correction (repositioning) of diacritical marks: Diacritical marks are part of the character itself like á (i.e. they are a single character itself). Kindly provide some more details with the regard to the suggestion and illustrations if possible.

10. Text outlines: Can be achieved through Text to Box feature.

----------
6. Background color around selected text/paragraph: We already have an enhancement logged for this.

I've just sent you an e-mail with attachment (12 pages) with explanation of my suggestions. And there are some answers to your questions:

7. Without anchor boxes. Just as an another text/paragraph attribute.
10. Text outlines as InDesign has. Text is still editable.

For all others, please, see the attachment.

I wonder, why are you so interested if any other application has these features!?

1. Do you think they are useless if no other application have them?
2. Don't you want to be the first who will have them and be more competitive?
3. Are you afraid that it will be just wasting of your time implementing them?
4. Are you wondering who needs these one and all my previous suggestions?
